View Full Version : shooting rsd pain

Hey folks,

I'm just posting this to give a little history on myself in the hopes it might benefit someone.
I had a severe whiplash in 94 and a subsequent emergency laminectomy to C4/5 which resulted in my rsd.
You know the symptoms...arm atrophied after the surgery, blue...cold... as a musician I thought that part of my life was over.

I didn't know anything about rsd, and the woman neurosurgeon who practices in Eugene Oregon cancelled my post op visit several times. By the time I saw her I had shooting pains all over my body. It was like torture. Long story short after doing everything except jumping off a cliff, I was encouraged to see a Naturopathic Doc in Portland, OR who evidently was recognized on a national level for helping chronic cases.

I'm writing this, although I did a lot of things, including hydrotherapy and a major diet change, the most vital part to my recovery was a homeopathic remedy called Hypericum. It is specifically for shooting pain.

I suffer from this every few minutes. After a couple of weeks, I noticed a significant difference...and today?
Well, I'm typing. I'm playing guitar, and working on a cd of songs I wrote when I struggled through all of this. I just wanted to log on because everyday I am grateful that I have survived, and I know there are people with RSD that get better and get off these lists because they can actually start living, and they have been waiting to make up for the time they hated a life of pain.

Hypericum worked for me. Please try everything, and don't give up. Incidently, two years ago I was told mby 3 neurosurgeons that the woman who did the neck surgery on me did the wrong surgery. I had to have it done correctly, a fusion this time. My husband and I were told by Dr Hooshmand that I would be in a wheelchair in 6 months. I kept in close contact with my naturopath, and a wonderful lady Chiropractor in Portland who runs a fibromyalgia pain clinic, and although I have severe neck pain, I only need to take Hypericum about once a month for shooting pain, because it only surfaces that often, with less intensity.

Take care all of you. I wish you my best.

Priscilla
