I have cts and tendonitis. My dr. gave me a cotizone injection that shot the nerves right into the thumb. Ever since, my nerves are just going haywire in my wrist/thumb. He was going to do cts surgery, but now wants to see me as my thumb/wrist area is red and there's a white blotchy area. He thinks I have rsd. My ? is this: I was dx with RSD 5 yrs ago on knee injury; with therapy, etc. it went away, or so I thought. I am on w/c as I have many overuse problems and now this...is this new problem from the trauma of the overuse symptoms, the injection? Please enlighten me...

Hello,
My name is Dawn and I have RSD/CRPS in both legs and started in both arms in Dec. caused by a hip injury on May 18, 2000.
From all my research I have learned that either of your two factors could cause the RSD to develop in your arm. Also once you get RSD you are never really cured, the disease just goes into remission, like cancer does.
Since you have dealt with this disease befor in your knee then you have an idea of what the pain can be like. Don't hesitate get into your doctor quickly! Also DON'T let your doctor due the surgrey. Any type of surgical procedure could spread the disease or increase your pain to an unbearable level.
Take care, I will add you to my prayer list.
Hugs,
Dawn S.

I had a steriod injection in my right shoulder and soon after started with severe color and temperature changes. My doctor mentioned RSD right away. He keep an eye on me but still proceeded with a bone spur and rotator cuff injury. Now 18 months later I am working on my 5 pain management doctor. Have been through withdraw due to the Duragestic patch. Have been told I need a SCS. Yesterday I had a back molar extracted as the RSD has caused TMJ. The tooth was infected and my PM had me scheduled for a epidural cervical block but had to cancel due to the possible sespis.
I am almost 100% sure my injection caused the RSD. Even if it was a minor trauma to my body, size does not matter

I got RSD from carpal tunnel surgery! so please becareful the surgery for cts can make your RSD worse! If i had know about RSD i never never would of had my carpal tunnel surgery! I would of much rather lived with ct than try to live with RSD! For the research i have done RSD happens in 5% of all cts!!
TAKE CARE
