Hi Y'all.... I was diagnosed with RSD in July,2000. Starting in my right leg and has pretty much spread to all extremeties. I have been thru ALOT of medical procedures and tons of medications. I had a chiropracter tell me that she could help with some mild adjustments. Just wondering if any of y'all have tried this avenue. Would love to hear your input!
Thanks... Kimmie

Hi Kimmie,

You need to get some info from the National RSD Foundation as it will explain that if RSD is not treated within the first 6months the success rate of any improvement is very slim.

Another good source is to call your local Musuclar Dystrophy office and they'll direct you to a local RSD support group. From there you can ask the members about what they tried and what results they got back. Sorry to say but in reality there's very little that can be done for RSD.

The reason I'm giving you the hard facts is we all want our RSD to go away and lead some kind of a normal life again and in doing so were willing to try anything and sometimes we can make it worse than it already is. Yes it can be worse.

I did find out by accident that ice water baths do help. My RSD is in my foot in the bones and the pain is as though someone kicked me in my shinn bone and I have that pain 24hrs a day 365 days a year. Some days are better than others but I've never pain free even with morphine. The ice water hurts something terrible and it's almost enough to make you pass out from the pain but I did get less pain for about two weeks afterwards and it really helped the swelling go down. I tried a second time in the ice bath and didn't make it very long nor have I ever tried it again because of the horendous pain it causes when I first summerged my foot. So be fore warned!

I also have taught myself to walk (well I call it walking but it's really hobbling..lol) different. I walk on my heal with no fore foot pressure and stop my stride when my foot is even with my other foot. Thats very hard to get used too but it works for me. It took me about two years to prefect what felt the best for me.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, think long and hard before you let someone talk you into something that you may have to live with the rest of your life! There is no quick cure and anyone that says different is usually trying to get some of your money!

Take Care,
